CHANGE THE WORLD

If you had the power to change anything in your world, what would you choose? Why is this important? Write a poem or short written piece. Add some drawings or other images if you want to.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD OR STRONG LEADER?

What qualities should we look for in a leader? Why do we need leaders? Maybe we don’t. If you were a leader what would you change? Write a poem or short written piece that expresses your ideas. Add some pictures if you want to.

AFRICAN LEADERS

Research some African leaders. Ask for your teacher’s help if you need it. You may look at a leader of a country or nation, or a leader of a movement. Write a short report with pictures if you can. Who do you think is the most inspirational and why? Was it what they said? Was it their struggle? Was it what they achieved?

FAMOUS SPEECHES

Find a famous speech made by an important figure from Africa or the Diaspora. If you are brave enough, read their speech to your class, or read the most important part of the speech. Try and do it with feeling, as if you were that person in that time. What drew you to that speech? Are the themes still relevant today?

CIVIL RIGHTS

Write a short report or even a poem that investigates some of these key words. What are Civil Rights? What does the word Diaspora mean? What is Oppression? Minority Control? What does Freedom mean? Or choose some words of your own that you think are relevant.
